About Experience Financial

At Experience Financial we advise families and family businesses on the tangible and intangible aspects of estate and succession planning.

We focus on:

  • Understanding the unique family dynamic, defining the family values and wealth philosophy
  • Ensuring that the tax, legal and financial strategies align with family objectives and support family harmony

Through detailed discovery and analysis, we determine family objectives and find the right strategies to implement. We then interface with other advisors to ensure the strategies work together to meet your succession and estate planning objectives.

Spencer Mellace – CFP, CLU, TEP, FEA

For the past 23 years I have advised families and businesses on financial strategies and products to protect and grow their businesses and their wealth.

In my first year I learned an important lesson. I was assigned the servicing of clients that were sold life insurance policies from another advisor. Many of the families that bought these policies believed they were being advised, but really they were being sold a product and for many of them the product did not do what they expected.

To hold yourself out as an advisor, you have to focus first on the clients you serve and not the financial products that you sell.

My approach has been to start with the planning and analysis and put financial products in place only where it fits to help meet the clients’ objectives.

In my most recent role as a partner and advisor in a planning and insurance firm, I was proud of the client centric work that we did. However, my belief has been that the most valuable part of that work for clients has little to do with the financial products we sold.

Experience Financial does not sell financial products. We serve families and family businesses and have no obligations to any financial institutions.

I hold the Certified Financial Planner, Trust and Estate Practitioner and Chartered Life Underwriter designations, as well as the my Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA) designation. I’m also a member of FPAC, the Financial Planner’s Association of Canada.

Advice Only Financial Planner
Serving Alberta and Ontario

Advice Only financial planners offer planning, advice and may assist in the implementation of financial strategies by interfacing with other professional advisors on your behalf. Unlike financial planners and advisors that work for a large financial institution, or advisor that sell financial products, advice only or fee only financial planners work with you directly. They do not receive financial compensation from insurance companies, investment firms or other financial institutions.
